Your choices matter at this table.

A battle of courage, wisdom, and perseverance.

Will you guard the fellowship, attempt a breakthrough, or take a risky roll? Should you apply a Scripture card now or save it for the next challenge?

Shield & Scripture brings those decisions to a warmly lit table of green felt, brass details, animated dice, and illustrated cards. Protect your Life, manage Resolve and Supplies, and overcome encounters inspired by accounts from the Old and New Testaments.

Choose your dice

Six action dice offer different ways to help in battle. Between encounters, the percentile die joins a d10 to reveal discoveries along the road.

Apply Scripture

Read 12 support cards with KJV verses or excerpts, plain-language explanations, and abilities connected to their themes.

Hear the table come alive

Dice tumble, cards shuffle, and cards tap the table. Adjust the volume or mute the sound whenever you prefer.

Two Fate dice. One changing situation.

A partial advantage. Make it count.

Both Fate dice roll automatically with your chosen action dice. Each shows a plus, minus, or blank, adding an advantage or complication to the round.

Fate result What it means
Two pluses A positive outcome: +5 progress.
Plus and blank A partial advantage: +2 progress.
Plus and minus They cancel: no extra effect.
Two blanks No extra effect. Your action dice still resolve.
Minus and blank A partial setback: counterattack +1.
Two minuses A negative outcome: counterattack +3.

Face the opposition. Watch confidence crumble.

All 12 face cards and four aces represent major opponents. Encounter Goliath, Pharaoh, Haman, and thirteen other biblical figures, each with a passage reference, a distinct tactic, and two encounter objectives.

GoliathThe Voice of Fear
PharaohThe Burden of Bondage
HamanThe Hidden Plot

Each opponent has four portrait stages. As Health or Opposition falls, a confident face becomes enraged, shaken, and finally near defeat. Clear meters show exactly where the encounter stands.

Victory can represent overcoming a threat, protecting others, or resisting pressure. These encounters are imaginative interpretations of biblical accounts, with links to read the passages for yourself.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”PSALM 119:105 • KING JAMES VERSION

There is more to the road than battle.

Between encounters, choose a safe rest, help a traveler, study Scripture, or roll for a discovery. Each choice supports your fellowship in a different way.

Two jokers add another twist: Unexpected Help provides a timely recovery and protection, while Sudden Trial strengthens an upcoming counterattack and rewards you for overcoming the encounter.

  1. Read the encounter.
Check your opponent’s objective and tactic before choosing your approach.
  2. Prepare your round.
Read a Scripture card and optionally apply its ability. Select two different action dice.
  3. Roll and respond.
Both Fate dice roll with your selected dice. Watch progress, Guard, and Life update automatically.
  4. Continue the journey.
Overcome the encounter, choose a road activity, and prepare for the next challenge.
