SHIELD & SCRIPTURE - WEB EDITION v1.0
Created by Marcus Draper | Deskatur.com

UPLOAD TO YOUR WEBSITE
1. Extract the ZIP on your computer.
2. Upload index.html, style.css, content.js, engine.js, audio.js, app.js,
and the entire assets folder into a folder such as:
   public_html/shield-scripture/
3. Visit https://deskatur.com/shield-scripture/
Keep assets lowercase. No database, PHP configuration, build step,
account, or remote AI service is required.

You can also open index.html locally in a modern browser. All artwork
and sounds are included; links to Deskatur and Bible Gateway need internet.

FIRST PLAY
Choose Short Journey (4 encounters), Standard Journey (6), or Full Campaign
(all 16). Select two action dice, then press Roll Selected Dice.
The two Fate dice roll automatically. Click a glowing action die to remove
it before selecting another. Hover over any die to read its role.
Click a Scripture card to read the verse and optionally apply its ability.
Use Rules and Hint whenever you need help.

The d% die is for discoveries BETWEEN encounters. It rolls with a d10
and produces a result from 1 to 100. The six other polyhedral dice are
available during battle. Fate dice have equal chances of +, -, or blank.

SAVING
Progress saves after every completed action. Menu > Export save creates
a JSON backup. Import save transfers it to another browser or the PC edition.
Closing while dice animate cancels that unresolved roll; the previous state
is kept. Private browsing and clearing site data can remove saves.

SOUND
Audio begins after a click or tap, as required by modern browsers.
Use the Sound button to mute or the slider to change volume. The dice,
shuffle, and card-placement effects are synthesized locally with Web Audio.

CONTENTS
16 biblical opponents; 4 portrait stages each; 2 encounter objectives per
opponent; 12 Scripture support cards; 2 jokers; four road-event choices;
all 3 journey lengths; rules, hints, portrait gallery, journal and save export.
Each face card and ace is assigned to one opponent. Number cards are not used.

BIBLICAL CONTENT
Accounts are summarized and linked from the game. Game powers, resource
values and objectives are fictional illustrations. Portraits are artistic
interpretations. Verse text and labeled excerpts use the King James Version.
Life and Resolve are game resources, not measures of personal faith.
See CREDITS-AND-SOURCES.txt for references.

VALIDATION AND FIRST RELEASE
Rules and save tests passed, including 360 complete simulated journeys.
Interface event handlers were checked using DOM stubs, not an actual browser.
No browser visual/audio playback test or native Windows launch was available
in the build environment. This first release needs human playtesting for
layout, sound preference, and difficulty. It follows the approved table
concept with live interface elements and newly generated matching artwork;
its responsive layout is not a pixel-for-pixel copy of the concept image.
